The FN SCAR is a combat assault rifle developed by Belgian manufacturer FN Herstal for the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM). The SCAR was developed with two different types of ammunition: The SCAR-L for light chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and the SCAR-H for heavy chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. While the SCAR-L was not as popular, the SCAR-H is now in widespread use by the United States where the light weight, accuracy, and stopping power have proved worth on the battlefield.
